Counselors Produce Videos with Students!

Mrs. Fleming and Mrs. Mutscher have been working with our Tigers In Service students to create some nice videos to demonstrate appropriate behaviors. Students are recording and acting in these videos. This is a great way to reinforce positive behaviors across campus as the videos are shared.

I think our counselors are doing a swell job using technology with our students. Keep up the good work!

You’ll be sing these videos on the morning announcements so keep your eyes peeled.

Mr. Jeffrey’s Class Produced a Science Video

Mr. Jeffrey’s students have edited a video of one of their class Science experiments. He has posted this video on his web site! What an awesome way for your students to review the content. Now other classes on campus can utilize this video for instruction in their classrooms. Nice work Mr. Jeffrey! The goggles are a nice touch!

Mrs. Frick’s 5th Grade Turning Points Challenge

It has become clear to me now that I am not smarter than a 5^th grader! Mrs. Frick invited me up to participate with her students as they used Turning Points. She offered up some fairly challenging questions from the 5^th grade Science TEKS and there were some that I just didn’t know (and they did)! Maybe they have an advantage because she is such an awesome teacher. What an awesome way to review the Science TEKS and immediately asses their knowledge, Mrs. Frick!

Kinder’s New Wiki

A few weeks back the Kindergarten team had a technology training that focused on specific needs that they were having in their grade level. During that training they had a spark of an idea! It was a great idea I might add! They decided to start a grade level wiki to start collaborating in their lesson plans. Now, they are uploading their files and resources for the week in each subject and planning their field trip and many more cool things. You guys ROCK! I’m looking forward to seeing how yall continue to build upon what you have started. I know this is a big task for you all, but I also know your team can tackle it! Keep up the good work!!

Turning Points Training and Implementation

This week we had 7 teachers participate in a Turning Points training. Turning Points is a hand held student response system. Teachers prepare a presentation and and ask questions and students respond with their remote control giving the teacher immediate feedback as to whether or not their students are grasping the concepts. This allows the teacher to make immediate adjustments in his/her instruction.

In this training these teachers were able to learn to use a new tool, enhance their skills and create a ready to go lesson for immediate use. Some even left the training and implemented their lesson that afternoon while others are ready to integrate later this week! How awesome is that! Teravista teachers are GRRRREAT!

Paras Do Technology Training

This week our Para Professionals were able to participate in a technology training designed specifically for them. We believe that our campuses benefit from our paras and the more opportunity we give them to grow the more impact it can have on our students.

Our paras often work with our students in small groups providing support for previous instruction, therefore we provided them with the support tool of United Streaming. They learned how to search out videos that are related to the content in which they are supporting. It was exciting to hear them say, this would be perfect to help “so and so.” “So and so” will benefit from this….

Our paras are also often asked to work with teachers and/or students on special projects. These projects often require them to use a digital camera or video camera, so therefore we used a portion of our time to investigate these tools with them. After learning how they worked and how to use them we talked about ways they could use them in their roles on our campus. You can hear their excitement as they said things like, “We can use this when…” or “This would be perfect for…”

It is good to know they are excited about growing in their knowledge and that they are eager to implement their new knowledge for the students!
